If we are absolutely honest, there is really very little that would entice the hotel guests to make the 5 minute walk from the hotel into the village of Puigpunyent, beyond the local pharmacy, supermarket, bakery and tobacconist shop, the only attraction in the town would be the 13th Century Church.

If you do have access to a car during your visit, the village is surrounded by some fifteen prehistoric sites including the talayots at ses Casotes, Son Burguet and Son Serralta and the necropolis at Son Bru, also Roman remains have been found nearby at es Collet.

Certainly worth a mention is the “La Reserva de Galatzo” which is a nature reserve situated in the nearby Ratx Valley.

Local legend has it that the Conde Mal or “Bad Count” lives here. He’s an infamous character from Mallorcan history, and stories are told of him to scare small children.

The reserve comprises of well signposted paths through the mountains, with a number of signs to indicate the names of the plants and other historical information.

During the summer they also have a programme of organised outdoor activities for the local children.

In common with most of the towns and villages on the island of Majorca, Puigpunyent proudly holds their own local fiesta each year during the summer months.

The Fiesta of Madre de Dios, which literally translates into English as the “Mother of God”, is held on and around 15th of July.

For golf lovers, there are also five of the best golf courses on Majorca within a 15 minutes drive of Puigpunyent, these being the courses at Son Vida, Santa Ponsa, Bendinat, Son Antem and Poniente.
